Jeremy Bauman

Executive Director, Ground Up Investing

Jeremy leads Ground Up Investing, which invests in impact-driven businesses through a partnership-oriented, patient capital approach. He oversees strategy development, investing, and portfolio management.

Jeremy brings a range of global experience in entrepreneurial finance, early stage investing, and portfolio management to GUI. He previously worked in the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Practice at the World Bank, where he designed and implemented private sector development projects to stimulate investment in startups and small and growing businesses, including grant and co-investment schemes, across the Caribbean, Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa. He also served as Chair of the Selection and Co-Investment Committee for Katapult, a public funding program of the Innovation Fund in the Republic of Serbia.

His private investment experience includes running New Dominion Angels, a Washington, DC-based group of business leaders and professionals that invests in startups. He began his diverse career working in sales and distribution for a health-conscious consumer products company and was also a US Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Georgia, where he co-founded a non-profit that provided scholarships and educational programming to university students.

Jeremy earned a BA in History from Kenyon College and an International MBA from the University of South Carolina.
