Situation Report #3: Ebola Outbreak in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
This Situation Report provides an update on the rapidly expanding Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including the evolving epidemiological situation, IMA World Health's response and priority operational needs.
The report outlines IMA World Health's early response alongside the Ministry of Health to strengthen infection prevention and control (IPC), expand surveillance and contact tracing, train frontline health workers, support the continuity of essential health services, and engage trusted community leaders to improve Ebola awareness and early detection.
It also examines the operational challenges affecting the response — including insecurity, population displacement and the absence of approved vaccines or therapeutics for the Bundibugyo strain — and identifies priority funding needs to strengthen outbreak containment and protect vulnerable communities.
