Strengthening care for survivors of violence in eastern DRC

In eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), ongoing conflict and displacement continue to place women and girls at extreme risk of violence. Through the World Bank–financed STAR-Est project, IMA World Health, part of Corus International, is working alongside the Government of the DRC and other partners to strengthen survivor-centered care across North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri.

Between July 2025 and January 2026, the project helped expand access to lifesaving post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) kits, strengthened health-system supply chains and trained hundreds of frontline providers to deliver integrated medical and psychosocial support for survivors of violence. These efforts aim not only to respond to urgent needs but also to reinforce public systems that can sustain care in complex humanitarian settings.
