Issa Musa

Issa Musa

Lymphatic filariasis cost Issa Musa his marriage. For a while, at least.

The laborer in rural Tanzania suffered the painful effects of lymphatic filariasis, a disease spread by mosquitoes, whose bite transfers thread-like worms that scar and damage human lymph nodes. Among men like Musa, the scrotal sack swells with fluid so drastically it is common to lose work, friends and even marriages.

“First I could not work. Life was tough. I couldn’t get money,” Musa said. “My wife left me and took our small child. She left because I had no money.”

IMA works with Tanzania’s government to help its health care workers learn the signs of LF and how to treat hydrocele. Generous people like you help us to pay for simple, $75 surgeries that give Musa and thousands of men like him their lives back.

“They operated on me and the healing was fast,” he said. “Now my life is good and my wife has returned. She came to see me and found that I have changed. Now we have another child.”

An incredible friend of IMA will match your gift today threefold, to help us reach our goal of raising funds by June 30 to provide surgeries for 250 men in Tanzania.

Hydrocele might affect men in that most sensitive of areas but it isn’t a laughing matter. In fact, we feel it’s a great opportunity to honor your dad by helping another dad to get his life back. Please give generously, tell your dad what you’ve done and to watch for our tribute card in the mail.

All gifts matched $1 for $1 now through June 30. Double your impact today!

The typical Father’s Day gift falls far short of a gift that will improve the lives of men suffering from lymphatic filariasis. Giving a father the gift of his livelihood and improved quality of life is priceless.

Consider making your gift to IMA World Health in honor of the special father or fathers in your life:

  • A beard trimmer costing $75 could provide one man with a hydrocele surgery.
  • A $150 watch could provide two men with hydrocele surgeries.
  • A $250 cordless drill could provide three men with hydrocele surgeries.
  • A $500 gas grill could provide six men with hydrocele surgeries.

The father(s) you honor will receive a card or email letting them know of your amazing life-changing gift. It’s an instant gift that will forever change a life.

Gifts made to IMA World Health support our entire mission of health, healing and well-being, and they will be directed to where they are most needed.
