IAWG 2020: Advancing Maternal and Newborn Health in Humanitarian Settings

On August 19, 2020, IMA World Health hosted a webinar on Advancing Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) in Humanitarian Settings as part of the Streaming IAWG 2020: Webinar Series on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the Humanitarian-Development Nexus. Dr. Allyson Bear, Vice President of International Programs at Corus International, IMA’s parent organization, moderated presentations by Dr. Khesraw Parwiz (Jhpiego Afghanistan), Dr. Ihlas Altinci (CARE Turkey), Amani Kanjo (Syria Relief & Development), Katie Morris and Meghan Gallagher (Save the Children) on:

  • The impact of group-based antenatal care (G- ANC) on mental health Afghanistan
  • Improving the sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing of adolescent mothers in Syria
  • Research pertaining to the barriers and quality of essential newborn services in Somalia.
  • A multi-country study focusing on immediate post-partum contraception and lessons which can be incorporated from the development sector
